I first want to thank James Dean for his three great years as President of the club. The CRCC enjoyed a lot of fun new events and many memories were created these past few years under his leadership. I hope to continue the fun and growth of the CRCC in the upcoming year. I also want to thank all the other board members that served last year for all of their hard work at keeping this awesome club running smoothly and I am looking forward to working with the 2018 board. The CRCC is thriving with friendly, helpful, and giving members from a mix of both new and some that have been around for a while. This group is for Camaro enthusiasts of all ages, all models and in any condition.
Columbia River Camaro Club was started way back in 1982 and remains a non-profit organization to this day. We do our main fundraising through hosting car shows. This upcoming year we are excited to be hosting a couple of car shows this year. We are returning to Woodland’s High School Pharmacy after a great show last year and then we are happy to have our first show at Stanford’s in Lake Oswego and hope it is a great turnout! These fundraising events help the CRCC to be able to donate to the local community. This last year the funds we raised went to sponsoring families during the holidays, as well as purchasing wagons for the Portland Roadster Show that are tricked out and then given to the local children’s hospital’s for kids with cancer. New for this year, we are sponsoring for High School Challenge at the Portland Roadster Show to help a student that is looking to get into working in the automotive field.
We are a proud member of the Multnomah Hot Rod Council and have been for a few years now. We look forward every year to the holidays where we help the MHRC with their annual toy run up to Randall’s Children Hospital. As a club, we take either toy donations or cash at each meeting to then buy toys to donate at the end of the year, where we get together and deliver truckloads of toys to the hospital. For 2017 we raised over $800 dollars for purchasing toys. We also have members that donate their time to help staff the MHRC’s big event: The Portland Roadster Show.
The CRCC is so much more than just Car Shows. Throughout the year, we host a variety of different events ranging from game nights, mini golf events, and beautiful tours around the many amazing sights the Pacific NW has to offer. We also have a group of members that drag race regularly at PIR and Woodburn and welcome anyone that want to join and give it a shot. We are at the core a social club and getting people together for these events is what we are about. Although we are brought together by our Camaro’s, it is the drivers and family members that keep this club fun & upbeat and social events are a big part of that.
2018 celebrates of the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels. Since the original 1968 release of the iconic toy featured a first generation Camaro, Chevy has unveiled a special Hot Wheels edition Camaro with unique parts and pieces to make it a future collectible. The current Super Sport models of the Camaro are quick cars as CRCC members have time slips from Woodburn showing low 12-second passes bone stock! We are currently in the midst of another muscle car war as the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger are all upping their cars performance each year and we luckily get to enjoy the benefit! It is a great time to be a Camaro fan!
We meet the first Tuesday of every month at the Delta Park Elmer's and there is no minimum attendance required. We like to think we are a laid back, no pressure group. If you have any questions please contact us through the website or our Facebook page, I try to respond right away but may take a day or two to get back. As always, I look forward to meeting new people and their cars!
